A Spherical ball used in a game is called a Basketball. Basketball is a team game. Each time consists of five players. Each team tries to score a goal by throwing the ball into the opponent’s net. Basketball builds stamina as a player is required to run on the court.
Basketball was invented by James Naismith in 1891 and was first played on 21st December 1891. In those earlier days, the number of players was dependent on the students in the class and also on the playing area.
Canada was the first country other than the US to play this enthusiastic game. Later, Basket was played and introduced in France in 1893, in England in 1894, and then in India.
Women’s basketball became popular in the US first as a large part of women started playing this game in women’s college competitions. Since 2020, basketball is played globally among women and is one of the fastest growing games in the world of sports.
Basketball was initially played with a soccer ball. Also first the balls were brown. In the late 1950s, the orange ball was replaced as it was more visible to the players.

The center position is generally for the tallest player who is near the basket. Each game is divided into four 10 minutes periods. Players also take 2 minutes to break after the first and third periods.
The main objective of this game is to put the ball through the basketball hoop many more times than the opposing team. If you or your team can do it, you Win.
